Durch das Sperren von Twitter konnten sich andere Plattformen – allen voran die von Sina betriebene Weibo – etablieren. Ähnlich wie bei Wikipedia vor einigen Jahren wäre eine künftige Freischaltung von Twitter denkbar. Durch die starke Nutzung der chinesischen Plattformen wäre das Interesse und die Verbreitung nicht sonderlich hoch.

The incident ended with the withdrawal of the arrest warrant by the police.
